Daniel Ricciardo sealed his first GP win in a amazing Canadian GP where Mercedes faulterd. It was another crazy race at the Gilles Villenureve Circuit. The 2 Mercedes of Nico Rosberg and Lewis Hamilton had dominated the race up until midway through the 2nd stint where both cars simultaneously has K.E.R.S failures (MGU-K). This substantially decreased the pace and allowed Felipe Massa, Sergio Perez, Sebastian Vettel, Daniel Ricciardo and Nico Hulkenberg to catch them. But a huge talking point had been Nico Rosberg cutting the final chicane and holding position to Lewis Hamilton. The stewards took no action which left Lewis Hamilton in the turbulent air of Nico Rosberg's car. This eventually caused a rear brake failure on Hamilton's car just after he jumped Rosberg through the second round of pit stops. Felipe Massa was in pile position for the win then but he had to stop again which left Sergio Perez on a one stop strategy in 2nd place. But with older tyres Checco couldn't get close enough to Rosberg. Behind, the two Red Bulls played a patient game and when Sergio Perez had an engine issue Daniel Ricciardo pounced with 3 laps to go. And passed Nico Rosberg a lap later. Sebastian Vettel also got passed struggling Perez but when Felipe Massa tyres into T1, Perez slightly moved over causing a huge crash for the two cars and Sebastian Vettel was very lucky that he wasn't hit by the out of control Williams. This bought out the safety car for the second time after the two Marussia's got each other in T3 ending Max Chilton's finishing run of 23 consecutive GPs. Both Lotus' had bodywork failures, while Nico Hulkenberg struggled on his 1 stop stratedgy which allowed Jenson Button to take 4th with the contact between Felipe Massa and Sergio Perez. Kimi Raikkonen had another weird spin at the T10 hairpin. But it was Daniel Ricciardo who took the win and possibly the move of the race on Sergio Perez, but its Rosberg who extends his championship lead to 21 points. Both Felipe Massa and Sergio Perez are ok and at the medical centre but F1 moves to Austria in 2 weeks. The Red Bull Ring is Red Bull's home race but Lewis Hamilton will be out to make amends of another tragic weekend for him.
