Lewis Hamilton created career history as he took his first hat trick in Formula One. The Brit once again dominated the Grand Prix with a winning margin of over 15 seconds to team mate Nico Rosberg. It was a tough day for championship leader after a poor start and telemetry issues ended up with contact with the Williams of Valtteri Bottas. But the big contact was once again with Felipe Massa as he thumbed into the side of Fernando Alonso after another fantastic start from the Brazillian. But ultimately the contact would come back to haunt him so in his pit stop the team weren't ready and the contact had damaged the wheel hub meaning the team struggled to get the wheel off dropping him to the back of the grid. There was controversy at Red Bull yet again as Red Bull asked the World Champion Sebastian Vettel to move over yet again for Daniel Ricciardo who has a clear psychological advantage over Vettel. The team radio of "tough luck" by Vettel certainly showed Vettel wasn't giving up his position. It was a terrible day for McLaren as both cars had no pace and ended up unsuprisingly with no points. Romain Grosjen suffered more bad luck as he retired with a gearbox failure. While Hamilton had a hat trick of wins Adrian Sutil completed his hat trick of DNFs in Shanghai. Ferrari showed good improvement with Fernando Alonso collecting his first podium of the season, a big contrast to the arm punching 9th in Bahrain. But a big shout out must yet again go out to Daniil Kvyat who scored points for the 3rd time and the last time as a teenager in F1. But Hamilton has the momentum and 4points is no big margin in any sport. The fight moves to Barcelona, Spain. A race neither of the Mercedes drives has won.
