Lewis Hamilton reignited his World Championship hopes by taking 25 points out of Nico Rosberg. Exactly 6 years to the day when Lewis Hamilton won the British GP in 2008, the Brit repeated history. After a poor qualifying Lewis Hamilton started 6th but a mega drive saw him climb to 4th by Aintree. The red flag was then bought out for a huge accident where Kimi Raikkonen ran wide over a rain gully and smashed into the barrier along the Wellington Straight with a 47G impact!! The Williams of Felipe Massa tyres to spin to avoid the carnage but only managed to stop a bigger crash as he broke the rear suspension against the Ferrari. It rounded off a terrible 200th GP for Massa. The red flag lasted an hour as the smashed barrier was mended. On the restart Lewis Hamilton got past Kevin Magnussen and Jenson Button and began on his attack of Nico Rosberg. Nico Hulkenberg started to fall backwards through the field as the Silverstone wind ruined Force India's balance. Valtteri Bottas stormed through the field and was soon up to 3rd. But the biggest moment of the race was to come as Nico Rosberg's gearbox failed giving him his first DNF of the year (I called it in Review Preview on my YouTube channel :D). This then left Lewis Hamilton with the win in his reach and was able to cruise to the end. But the racing wasn't over just yet, Jenson Button was ever so close to a Silverstone podium on Pink for Papa day but needed one more lap to pass Daniel Ricciardo who did 37 LAPS on the option tyre!! Sebastian Vettel and Fernando Alonso had a brilliant battle where both made stunning overtakes at Copse but the racing was overshadowed by the whining about track limits which shows the problems in F1 currently. Esterban Gutierrez took revenge on Pastor Maldonado at Club as he sent Pastor Maldonado airborne and taking himself out. Miraculously Pastor Maldonado was able to continue showing that the only positive about Lotus' 2014 car. But it was a stunner of a GP and 2014 hasn't shown us its best yet! 2 weeks to the German GP Nico Rosberg will be desperate to regain lost points on home turf.
